Preventive wellness habits that hold up
Preventive wellness is not a long list. It is a short list, performed for years, and reviewed honestly enough to know whether it is working.
The short list
A protected sleep window — consistent timing matters as much as duration. Adequate protein across the day, which most people underestimate. Strength training twice weekly, because independence later depends on muscle and bone now.
An aerobic base built mostly at conversational pace. Daylight early and dimmer light late. Plant fibre in genuine variety. A daily downshift — slow breathing, five minutes, before it is needed rather than during a crisis.
Why compounding favours consistency
None of these produce a dramatic week. Their value is that they are still there in ten years. A perfect protocol abandoned in March is worth less than an unremarkable one still running in December — which is why WellthND designs for the smallest change you will actually keep.
How to know it is working
Track a few things that matter and read them against your own baseline: sleep consistency, resting heart rate and heart-rate variability, strength progression, waking energy, digestive comfort, and selected biomarkers over time. A composite index is useful mainly for direction of travel.
Review on a slow cadence — monthly, not daily — and change one variable at a time. Persistent symptoms belong with your physician; this is wellness review, not diagnosis.
